Sound financial record keeping is the foundation of every healthy business. Without accurate, up-to-date financial records, owners and managers cannot make informed decisions, comply with tax obligations, or demonstrate the financial health of their organisation to funders, investors, or partners. The Bookkeeper occupational qualification at NQF Level 5 equips learners with the comprehensive bookkeeping competence needed to maintain the financial records of small to medium-sized organisations with accuracy, compliance, and professional confidence.
The curriculum covers the full bookkeeping cycle: recording financial transactions in appropriate journals, maintaining the general ledger, reconciling accounts, preparing and processing accounts payable and receivable, managing payroll records, performing bank reconciliations, preparing trial balances and basic financial statements, maintaining VAT records and supporting tax compliance, and using accounting software such as Sage or QuickBooks effectively.
