The Farming qualification at NQF Level 2 provides an integrated introduction to the fundamental skills and knowledge required to participate in a broad range of farming activities. Unlike specialised plant or animal production qualifications, the Farming pathway is designed for learners who work — or aspire to work — in generalised farming environments where versatility and the ability to contribute across multiple tasks are more valuable than deep specialisation.
At this level, you will develop practical competence in everyday farming operations: preparing land for cultivation, planting and tending crops, caring for livestock, maintaining farm equipment and infrastructure, applying basic health and safety principles, and following instructions from supervisors to achieve daily production targets. Learners are also introduced to the importance of record keeping, responsible resource use, and good agricultural practice as the foundation of any sustainable farming enterprise.
