The Community Development Practitioner occupational qualification at NQF Level 5 is designed for experienced community development workers who are ready to take on more complex facilitation, project management, and leadership responsibilities within community development programmes and organisations. At this level, practitioners are expected to operate with greater autonomy, lead community development initiatives from inception to evaluation, and contribute to the development of organisational programmes and strategies.
The curriculum covers advanced community development practice: leading participatory community development processes, designing and implementing community development projects including needs assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, managing stakeholder relationships across government, civil society, and community structures, developing funding proposals and reports, supporting community governance structures and leadership development, analysing social and economic development data, and managing the ethical and professional dimensions of senior community development practice.
